The Ice Man "Ötzi" in the Archaeological Museum in Bolzano
The South Tyrolean Archaeological Museum tells the story of our country from the last ice age to the time of Charlemagne. A tour through 15,000 years of history of the southern alpine region. In addition to other precious findings from ancient times, also "Ötzi" the 5,300 year old Ice Man can be seen in the museum. A must for all visitors to South Tyrol!
The Passiria Museum in San Leonardo
History for Tyrol was written at the Sandhof in San Leonardo / Passiria, the home of the freedom fighter Andreas Hofer (1767 - 1810). A documentary film on the rebellion in Tyrol in 1809 is shown in the former stables of the building. The open-air area with buildings dating back to the 16th and 19th century rounds off the museum adventure.
Fascination of the Mines at Monteneve in the Passiria Valley
800 years of mining history are shown in the South Tyrolean Mining Museum in Monteneve in the Passiria Valley. Up to 1,000 people were employed here during peak times. In 1967 the mine was closed and re-opened as an adventure mine in 1996. Enjoy the secret fascination of the world underground.
